Participate in a Zoom Meeting

If your instructor is using VIU Online Rooms (Zoom) as a part of their class, this page will highlight important information that you need to know in order to fully participate in these Zoom meetings.

Zoom Application

There are two different ways you can join a Zoom meeting. You can join a Zoom meeting from your Internet Browser. Alternatively, you can join the Zoom meeting by using an application that has been downloaded to your device.

For the best user experience, we would recommend downloading the Zoom application to your device. This is because some features will not be available to your if you join the Zoom meeting using your Internet Browser.

You do not need to create a Zoom account in order to gain full Zoom functionality.

You can download the Zoom application by navigating to the Download Center on Zoom's website.

Test Computer or Device Audio

Whenever you join a Zoom meeting, our office would always recommend that you join the meeting 10-15 minutes before the scheduled time. This will allow you to test and make sure that your speaker and microphone is working before the scheduled meeting time.

Once you have joined the meeting, you can find instructions on Testing Computer or Device Audio on Zoom's website.
