The series are designed with application activities between sessions to allow for more meaningful and useful learning for all participants. If you would like to participate, please know that all three sessions are required for attendance and that there is some additional work beyond the sessions.Self-regulated learning (SRL) is learning that is guided by employing metacognitive methods (thinking about own thinking) and undertaking self-directed actions and adaptations based on feedback to achieve goals and academic skills. Self-regulation is not a trait that some students have and others do not. It is a way to go about learning that decades of research has shown to produce highly effective learners. This learning series is for employees who would like to explore exciting ways to engage students in being more independent and self-regulated learners. Over the course of the three sessions, participants will learn a variety of strategies and methods and how to use those with students before, during and after a learning experience occurs. In between sessions, participants will be asked to practice a few techniques and report back on their experience.
