We are inviting instructors to share their stories, their strategies, their challenges, and their successes. It’s an opportunity to hear about what others are doing, get some new ideas, and share your thoughts with colleagues you might not usually connect with. Please think about joining us if you’d like to participate, as a speaker or a participant.Helping Them Fly: Supporting Students in Taking Ownership for Their LearningIn this first session of the year, instructors from different programs within the Faculty of Trades and Applied Technology, discuss how they designed learning experiences to encourage student initiative and engagement. Each group will tell their story of how and why they started questioning their students’ motivation and initiative. They will then discuss what change they decided to implement to encourage students to be more independent and self-directed. They will reflect on what happened and what their key learnings were from the experience.
