TBL was originally conceived by Larry K. Michaelsen, Professor of Organizational Psychology and Behaviour, and is fully explained in the landmark book, Team-Based Learning (2004).  Several members of our pilot group, who are at various stages of the TBL implementation journey, have agreed to “go public” and tell the stories, warts and all, of their experience. It’s a specific teaching protocol, combined with a course design approach that ensures student preparedness, lots of active engagement, and an inclusive classroom. The result is a highly motivating learning environment and process in which students are ready to invest their energy in thinking, problem-solving and application of their knowledge.
