Launched at VIU in January, 2021, Thriving in Action (TiA) is a free, evidence-based, well-being and success program for students.  The TiA program is co-facilitated by the CIEL and Counselling Services, and it combines positive psychology and innovative learning strategies to support students in developing the skills and resiliency that they need to thrive. In this program, wellness itself is presented as a learning strategy and students receive information and activities related to wellness and mindfulness practices, as well as related learning strategies like time management and metacognition. We will present the Thriving in Action to faculty by modelling an example of the practices and activities from the program, and hold space for a discussion on health, wellness, mindfulness and learning at VIU. We want to hear from faculty about how health and wellness show up in course design and classroom practice. We also want to hear from faculty about their observations on student health and wellness, as well as faculty health and wellness. We want to open up a discussion on holistic dimensions of both teaching and learning, and discuss the ways in which our teaching can support both our students, and ourselves, to thrive.Date: Wednesday, February 17, 11:00 am - 12:30 pmRegister: InVIU Direct LinkQuestions: ciel@viu.ca | Centre for Innovation and Excellence in LearningfalseaYqCFcQpUzxLBYhTummH26494
