Request and Claim a VIU Online Rooms Account

Request a VIUOnline Rooms Account 

All faculty and staff at VIU can request an account with VIUOnline Rooms (powered by Zoom). In order to request an account, please send an email to learnsupport@viu.ca. To ensure we set you up with the best account type for your needs and to help us support your usage, please include a brief description of what you anticipate you will be doing with VIUOnline Rooms. For example, you may be planning virtual office hours, running department meetings, or teaching an entire course through web conferencing. 

When an account is created for you, you will have 30 days to claim your account. 

Claim Your Account 

Email requests sent to learnsupport@viu.ca will be processed within two business days. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email that looks something like the email below. If you do not see the email within two business days of submitting your request, please check your junk mail folder to see if it landed there.

Click the link titled Click here to activate your account. This link will allow you to complete your account set up. You can fill in your name and preferred password for the account. You may also take the opportunity to review Zoom’s terms of use and privacy policy.

Once you have filled in your information and password, click Continue. 

On the next screen you will be presented with a personal meeting URL which you can use to start a meeting at any time. From this screen you can launch a meeting or go to your account to schedule a meeting, or customize your settings.
