Announcements

The Annoucements tool is available in VIULearn on the Course Home page of all courses. You can use the Announcements tool as a way to grab your learners' attention when they first access your course. You can post announcements to keep your learners up to date on the course, share interesting articles or media, or just add some personality to your Course Home page.

Calendar

The Calendar tool is available in VIULearn on the Course Home page of all courses. Many tools in VIULearn will allow you to display start, due or end dates automatically in the Calendar. You can also add important dates to the course Calendar, helping learners stay organized. Learners can subscribe to your course calendar and export your events to many different Calendar programs.

Release Conditions

You can apply release conditions to almost every tool in VIULearn. You can release course materials or activities based on a variety of conditions including date and time, group enrollment, achievement on a quiz or grade item, completion of a post or submission, whether a student has accessed specific course resources, or a variety of other factors. If you attach multiple conditions to an item, you can require users to meet all conditions before they can access the item.

Intelligent Agents

The Intelligent Agents tool is available in VIULearn under the Faculty Tools and Course Admin menu. Intelligent agents monitor your course and find activity that matches criteria that you set. The criteria that the agents search for are login activity, course activity, and release conditions. The agent can then email you, your learner, or a combination of users to alert them to the criteria being met.

Self-Asssessments and Surveys

The Self-Assessments and Surveys tools are available in VIULearn under the Faculty Tools and Course Admin menu. Self-Assessments is a formative assessment tool that enables you to provide learners with a series of questions and immediate feedback for responses. Question types available are similar to quizzes, however, learner responses are not graded and you cannot get reports on learner activity. Surveys allow you to survey your students and they can be made anonymous.

Checklists and Glossary

The Checklists and Glossary tools are available in VIULearn under the Faculty Tools and Course Admin menu. The Checklist tool can be used to create an interactive course or module checklist for learners to help keep them organized. The Glossary tool can be used to create a course glossary that can be added into the Content for learners.
