Viewing Survey Results

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click Statistics from the context menu of the survey you want to view.
  2. Search for users and their listed attempt types in the Users tab. You can restrict your search of survey results by attempt in the Attempts tab.
  3. Click on an individual attempt to view a specific user's results, or click View Overall Results at the bottom of the page to view the number of attempts per question within a survey.

Based on how you have set up the survey properties, you might see a list of all users or just the overall survey results with anonymous responses.

Viewing Survey Reports

You can export survey statistics and reports to a CSV file for data analysis. The CSV file contains all pertinent information from the survey so that you can query, sort, and evaluate the data without being connected to the learning management system. You must set up survey reports from the Reports Setup tab for the appropriate survey before you can view or export reports.

View Survey Reports

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click  Reports from the context menu of the survey you want to view.
  2. Click on the report name.
  3. If you want to restrict your report within a specific time frame, select the From and To check boxes and enter the date restrictions.
  4. Click Generate HTML Report to view the report in your browser, or click Generate CSV Report to save the report as a CSV file on your computer.

Report TypeWhat it includes
Summary ReportAll of the questions and answers provided for each survey attempt,,how many users chose each possible answer, feedback messages, total,number of attempts, and details of responses.
You can also set a release date for this report.
Individual AttemptsThe Org Defined ID, username, first name, and last name of each user,can be hidden or displayed. Detailed information about each question,,the number of attempts, including how long each attempt took.

Question In Use

Occasionally if you use a question from the question bank in multiple assessments such as quizzes, surveys and self assessments and you change that question - you will get a pop up window asking you if you want that question saved in all places it is used. That is called the "Question In Use" feature.

Understanding "Question in Use"

The Question in Use page displays when you save changes to a shared question or shared information item. You can select the check box beside a quiz, self assessment, survey, and Question Library in which you want to apply your current changes and click Save.

Reordering Survey Questions

What about if you want to re-order the questions or change they way they show up in the survey. You can re-order them quickly by following these steps.

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to reorder.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Properties tab.
  3. Click  Order.
  4. Select the check box beside the survey question or section you want to reorder, and click the Up or Down arrows to move it through the list.
  5. Click Save.

Importing Survey Questions

You may wish to Import your survey questions to another assessment tool. You can import these questions several different ways.

Import Survey Questions from an Existing Collection

You can import survey questions from existing collections of questions within Quizzes, Surveys, Self Assessments, and the Question Library.

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey you want to import questions to.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Properties tab.
  3. Click Import.
  4. On the Import page, choose From an Existing Collection in the Import Source drop-down list.
  5. In the Source Collection drop-down list, choose the source where existing questions reside.
  6. In the Source Section drop-down list, choose the Collection Root or a specific section from which existing questions reside.
  7. Select the check boxes beside the questions you want to import, and click Save.

Import Survey Questions from a CSV File

You can create survey questions offline using a CSV formatted text file. Follow the steps below to access a template for creating the text file, or upload a question file you have completed.

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey you want to import questions to.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Properties tab.
  3. Click Import.
  4. On the Import page, choose From a Desire2Learn Text Format File in the Import Source drop-down list.
  5. You can click the CSV Sample File link and Save the file to your computer to download the text file template.
  6. Click Browse and select a CSV question file you have completed and want to upload to the survey. Click Open.
  7. Click Save.
