It is important to remember that not all faculty use VIULearn for their courses. This means that you may not see all of the courses you registered for in VIULearn. If you are ever concerned about your course registration, please check your student record.

My courses are missing!

There are a number of reasons why a course or courses might not be available in VIULearn.

Your courses are not pinned

VIULearn allows you to pin the courses you need access to on your My Home page. Sometimes new courses will need to be manually added (pinned) to your My Home page. Click on this link to watch a short video showing you how to pin and unpin courses.   

There is no course to see

Remember that many faculty do not use VIULearn for their courses. Those that do will sometimes hide the course in VIULearn for the first few weeks of the course. When in doubt, ask your instructor whether or not they are using VIULearn and whether or not you can log in to see their course now.

Registration needs to be updated

If you just registered for a course today, it will not appear until tomorrow (if your instructor is using VIULearn). Your VIULearn registration will be updated nightly, so please be patient while changes are made.

Waitlists

If you are on the waitlist for a course, you will not see it in VIULearn. Once you have an official seat in the class (and the system updates overnight) you should see the course in VIULearn. If you are confident you will get a seat in the course, you can ask your instructor to grant you temporary access to the VIULearn course. It is ultimately up to your instructor whether or not to give you access and they can choose not to.

Overdue fees

If you have overdue fees (like tuition payments or the health and dental plan) then your courses may temporarily disappear from VIULearn. After you pay your fees (and the system updates overnight) you should have access to your courses again.

If you have considered all of the options above and you still cannot see your courses, please send and email to learnsupport@viu.ca with the following information:

  • Your name and student number
  • The name of the course you are missing and what section you are enrolled in (e.g. ENGL 101 F16N05)

We will get back to you as quickly as possible, within 48 hours.
