Course content in VIULearn is usually only available for a short time after the course completes. If there is content in your courses that you want to keep for future reference (such as a syllabus with a record of the course content, or a great study guide or article you think you will want to look at later), you can download these items from your course with the steps below.

Please Note: the ability to download content from a course does not give you the right to distribute or use this material without permission. If you have questions about content ownership, please see the VIU Library's page on Copyright & Licenses

To download a single file or page:

  1. Go to the course you want to download content from and click Content on the navigation bar

  2. Navigate to the content topic or file you want to download

  3. Click the arrow to the right of the title and choose Download from the menu that appears.

  4. The file should download immediately. Depending on your computer's settings, the file may open automatically or save to a folder on your computer.

To download all available course content:

  1. Go to the course you want to download content from and click Content on the navigation bar

  2. On the left navigation panel, click Table of Contents to go to the root of the course

  3. Click the Download button

  4. A zipped folder containing the content files from the course will be prepared and then begin to download automatically. You may see a loading screen before the download begins.

  5. Once the folder has downloaded, you will need to extract the files. Mac computers should do this automatically when you click to open the folder. On a Windows computer, right click on the folder and choose Extract All.

  6. Inside the folder you will find all of the documents and pages from the course content. There will also be a file called Table of Contents.html which you can use to navigate the files you have downloaded.
