VIULearn’s Grades tool will automatically calculate each student’s final grade for your course based on the grade items you set up. This Calculated Final Grade is not visible to students by default. At the end of your course, you can release this grade to students so they can see their grade breakdown as well as the final grade for the course inside VIULearn.
Releasing the Calculated Final Grade in VIULearn is not the same as submitting your final grades in Class List Management. You will still need to complete the final grade entry procedure to submit finalized grades for your students. However, if you use VIULearn to calculate grades, you will be able to import these grades into the Final Grade Entry screen with a single click.
Release Final Grade
- In your VIULearn course, select Assessment and Grades from the navigation bar
- Scroll down to the bottom of the grades table where you will see Final Calculated Grade.
- Click the arrow beside Final Calculated Grade to access its context menu.
- Select Enter Grades.

Check the box next to the students whose final grades you want to release or check the top checkbox to select all displayed students.
- Note: if you have more than 20 students in your course you will want to adjust the number of students per page first to show all students on one page.
- Click Release/Unrelease
- You will see a check appear in the Released column for each selected student.
- Click Save and Close.
