Log in to VIU learning technologies

VIULearn

All current VIU employees can log in to VIULearn using their VIU Computer Account. 

  1. Navigate to VIULearn
  2. Click the Go to VIULearn button
  3. Enter in your VIU Computer Account credentials
  4. Click the Sign In button

Teams

Microsoft Teams is VIU's video conferencing software. Employees and students can use their VIU email address and computer account password to log in to Teams.

Students and employees should have Two Factor Authentication set up for their VIU account. You will need to verify your account by signing in and confirming through 2FA any time you use a new device and every 30 days when you are using the same device for more than 30 days.

Because Teams will keep you logged in for 30 days before requiring you to reenter you password, we strongly recommend only signing in to Teams on devices where you are the only user or where you have a user account that is not shared. If you use Teams on a shared home computer, we recommend setting up a user account that is not shared so your Teams data remains protected.

  1. Start Teams.
    • In Windows, click Start Start button > Microsoft Teams Outlook Teams Meeting icon.
    • On Mac, go to the Applications folder and click Microsoft Teams Outlook Teams Meeting icon​​​​​​​.
    • On mobile, tap the Teams icon.
  2. Sign in with your VIU email address and password.
    • follow the on screen instructions for Two Step Verification if prompted

VIUTube

There are three ways to access VIUTube: through VIULearn, directly at viu.yuja.com or on the YuJa Video app on your mobile device.

Access through VIULearn

  1. Sign in to VIULearn
  2. Click VIUTube in the navigation bar
  3. VIUTube will sign you in automatically

Log in directly

  1. Go to viu.yuja.com
  2. Click Log In
  3. Sign in with your VIU username and password

Connect on the mobile app

  1. Install the YuJa Video app from your device's app store
  2. When prompted to enter your organization, enter Vancouver Island University
  3. Click Next
  4. Set the drop down menu to VIU Account and then click Sign in with SSO
  5. You will be taken to the VIU login portal. Enter your username and password and click Sign In

VIUBlogs

  1. Go to wordpress.viu.ca
  2. Click Login with your VIU account
  3. Enter your username and password
    • note: VIUBlogs cannot accept an email address as your username. You will need to enter your username (usually your last name or part of your last name followed by you first initial) to sign in to VIUBlogs

I can't log in or I forgot my password. What do I do?

If you have forgotten your VIU Computer Account credentials or are having any difficulties logging into VIULearn, a good first step is to try and reset your Computer Account password and try again.

You can find instructions on how to reset your Computer Account password on the IT Department's website. 

If you have reset your Computer Account password and you are still unable to login, please Contact the IT Department for further assistance. The IT Department manages Computer Accounts at VIU and will be able to assist you in getting access to your credentials.
