I Don't See My Course

There are a number of reasons why a course you are registered in might not show up in the My Courses widget in VIULearn.

There is no course to see

You will only ever see a course in VIULearn after your instructor releases the online course to students. Not all instructors will use VIULearn in their courses, and those that do may not release online content until after the first class. If you think your course will be using VIULearn but don't yet see the course online, we suggest you contact your instructor to find out if and when they will be making VIULearn course content available.

Registration needs to be updated

Changes made to your enrollment (adding a course, changing course sections, dropping a course etc.) do not reflect in VIULearn immediately. VIULearn brings in new information from the registration system every 12 hours, so you may have to wait up to 12 hours before the changes that have been made to your account in the registration systems matches your enrolment record in VIULearn. If you add a course late, you should always contact your instructor to let them know and they may be able to give you early access or send you materials so you can get caught up on anything you missed right away.

Your courses are not pinned

The My Courses widget area on the VIULearn homepage has a couple of tabs to help you control what you see first when you log in. If you have pinned any courses, they will appear at the top of the All tab and on the Pinned tab. Your All tab will show up to 12 courses automatically, but you control which courses show up underneath the Pinned tab. You can also pin a new course to make it easy to find with the steps below:

  3. Click the pin icon beside any unpinned course to add it to your pinned courses.
  4. In the My Courses widget, click the Pinned tab to change your view to show only pinned courses.

Overdue fees

If you have overdue fees (like tuition payments or the health and dental plan) you may be withdrawn from your courses through the official VIU student record system. If this happens, you will also be withdrawn automatically from your VIULearn courses. Once you have paid your fees and any late registration forms have been processed to re-enroll you in your courses, you will be automatically added back to the VIULearn courses the next time the system updates (12 hours after the change was made).
